New coalition; National Front comes into beinf
Decentralization of power, Parliamentary Democracy, Proportional Representation, Supremacy of Parliament
Kabul, November 11, 2011 : A new political coalition consists of strong parties and figures announced its presence among the hundred of its supporters. Yesterday, Ahamd Zia Massoud, the ex senior vice president and the brother of legendary commander of anti soviet and Taliban commander, Hahi Mohammad Mohaqiq, the leader of People's Unity Party of Afghanistan, General Abdur Rashid Dostum, the founder of the National Islamic Movement of Afghanistan (Junbish), Amrullah saleh, the ex NDS chief, Haji Aman Khairi a strong tribal leader from the Eastern Afghanistan and hundreds of people from the Northern, Central and Southern Afghanistan announced a new political coalition in Kabul. Meeting held in the big hall of "Sitare Shar" accommodating around two thousand people, has the largest anti Karzai so far.In his speech, Ahmad Zia Massoud said, "It is the time for an effective leadership which could unite the country and the present government has lost its credibility among Afghans and the international community."
Emphasizing on the empowerment of the Political Parties he said that collective goals need collective efforts and that is only possible with the effective political parties representing the real masses.
"This front was one of the strong desires of Professor Rabbani (Shaheed), assassinated by the terrorists and if was alive presiding over this meeting. Now when he is no more among us we will fulfill his wish" he added.
He reaffirmed that our political system need fundamental change and the present status quo is leading Afghanistan toward more crisis. He said that the front doesn't represent any specific region, ethnic group or language but call for unity among all sections of Afghanistan.
Addressing among the cheering supporters, Haji Mohammad Mohaqiq said, "Mismanagement according to person desire and a flawed system are the core reasons behind the present deadlock. Violation of law and undermining the supremacy of parliament has become hobby of the present government."
"We understand the cooperation of international community and the ISAF led by US, emphasize on the presence of the international coalition against the terrorism until the threat of terrorism poses our country but the matters concerning this issue should be discussed and approved by the parliament rather than the selected and fraudulent Jirga" he said.
He said, "We don't deny the achievement of the ongoing decade but it is nothing as compare to the investment in blood and money and the sacrifices of our civilians and security forces." He called the peace process deficient and strongly criticized the modality which the government is following. He assured the audience that National Front will try its best to promote the national unity and rule of law.
Azizullah Kargar, the spokesman of Gen. Dostum criticized the administrative and political system, "dysfunctional centralized and ill governance lapse the legitimacy of the government. The decentralization of power and elected governors will provide comprehensive ground for national participation pf power" he said. Kargar also criticized the current electoral system and called it an obstacle on the way of promoting democracy.
Haji Aman Khairi, a Pashtun tribal elder from Eastern Afghanistan also declared his support to the National Front of Afghanistan.
National Front doesn't deny the peace talks with Taliban but insists that the strong centralized power structure and the weak legitimacy of the present government are the main hindrances in this connection (Outlook)
